FINAL - Pallet Installation
In This work I realised that this barrier idea that I had previously dropped as an idea was prominent to my practice and was a strong idea . So I chose to develop this idea , by cutting a hole in the middle of the pallet I was hoping for the interaction with the object / installation would be different and a different engagement when i came to install it . I placed it in the foyer on an angle that limos the space between the walkway to the studio from the foyer . The interaction that i wanted to happen was one where the viewer was forced to navigate their way past it . The cut out section was to see if people would take the route of going through the installation rather than moving around it . After installing this piece I realized that I wasn't interested in the idea of the environment forcing an engagement apon the viewers but intact the movement that the people do to get past it . I observed that people would do all sorts of things to get by like turning sideways and shuffling to get through , other people kind of twisted to get through and others lifted up their arms and went on tippy toes to get through . I decided to document this by setting up a camera focusing on the peoples movement and interaction to the space .
I HAVE A VIDEO ON MEMORY STICK THAT SHOWS PEOPLES INTERACTIONS WITH THE INSTALLATION
