TAPE INSTALLATION
Previously I was creating these barriers that would stop unconscious movement between spaces and engage the viewer with the work and spaces to highlight the importance of the everyday . But the works itself wasn't enough to show this engagement instead it aided to the explanation of my idea and became an iteration of the idea . As a development from this idea i decided to capture the moment through documentation by marking making ... I wanted to show the importance of traveling through a space and the movement it requires to engage with it . I decided to show this marking of movement by placing masking tape on the ground in front of the door through the studio to the foyer and after leaving it in the doorway for a few hours I found that there was footprints on them which is what i wanted because it showed that there was a navigation through the space .

FINAL - netting Installation
In this installation I decided That I was going to effect the space between the elevators and the foyer in an attempt to force a different navigation within the space .What I enjoyed about this work was that it took up space without being inconvenient to the viewer but they were able move around and change the way they would approach the space differently ..
FINAL - Pallet Installation
In This work I realised that this barrier idea that I had previously dropped as an idea was prominent to my practice and was a strong idea . So I chose to develop this idea , by cutting a hole in the middle of the pallet I was hoping for the interaction with the object / installation would be different and a different engagement when i came to install it . I placed it in the foyer on an angle that limos the space between the walkway to the studio from the foyer . The interaction that i wanted to happen was one where the viewer was forced to navigate their way past it . The cut out section was to see if people would take the route of going through the installation rather than moving around it . After installing this piece I realized that I wasn't interested in the idea of the environment forcing an engagement apon the viewers but intact the movement that the people do to get past it . I observed that people would do all sorts of things to get by like turning sideways and shuffling to get through , other people kind of twisted to get through and others lifted up their arms and went on tippy toes to get through . I decided to document this by setting up a camera focusing on the peoples movement and interaction to the space .

Deleuze EXPERIENCE
I would like to talk about an article I read which came from The Book The deluxe dictionary . I recently re-read this article and felt that not only was it relevant to my Theory work but also relative to ideas i was trying to explore , investigate and achieve . The Article is a Chapter from the book , called Experience ."Experience is that milieu which provides the capacity to affect and be affected ."It then goes on to say " Experience is Qualitative , multidimensional and exclusive; it includes a draft , a wind , a time of day, a stream , a place , a battle . We are made up of relations , and experience makes sense to us only if we understand the relations in practice between conflicting schemes of the said experience ." I feel that my works talks about this idea of experience and the relations it has with the viewer ,
DOOR OPENER
This work is similar to the previous work although it deals with a different interaction . The previous interaction was a stepping over interaction by which people had to step over the planks of wood to get by without destroying it . But in this work the interaction is one where you have to walk under . Even though they deal with the same ideas . One of the ideas that was in this work and the previous work was the idea of creating in a sense a barrier but a better word would be a threshold between two places and the best place for this is between the doors which are entry points from one space to another . My work become a marking or a mapping of this interaction between two spaces by entering these thresholds .

Richard Wentworth Making do and getting by
In my theory essay I discussed the topic of the 'Everyday'. One of my Artist I was investigating was Richard Wentworth and his works labelled "Making do and getting by"and Thoughtless Act" by Jane Fulton Suri through an article called parallel Universes and core77 . In Richard Wentworths work they say " These images capture the minutiae we pay little attention to—images which nonetheless rely on the social context from which they are culled and through which they are analysed for their real meanings." What I took away from this Quote was this idea of a presentation of the everyday we take for granted or are unaware of the environment around us i and when a simple change occurs within that environment how we realise how important that environment is . The other thing that i got out of this article was this idea of documenting or presenting a subconscious engagement we have with the world around us and highlighting the human intervention that takes part in .
These are some of the key ideas in my drawing practice and I have developed it and added my own ideas .
With my other works i realised that the interaction was too strong in a sense that the work detracted from the idea and appreciation due to the fact that it became an inconvenience , peoples reactions became angry and annoyed that a walkway was closed , but i felt that this interaction to the change in an environment was a good idea and I needed to pursue it in a different way . In this work the change in the environment was the pieces of wood jammed between the door and wall to keep the door open . the interaction was between the people and how they react to the beams being in there way .
I Started to think of barriers in space and how I can use that to get an interaction between the viewer and artwork so that the viewer becomes involved and therefore an interlocutor . In this installation work my idea was to install my own beams across the pallet and highlight the ones that I installed by painting them I then stood it up as a fence kind of thing .Thinking of barriers I then Installed it in a studio walk way and observed the interactions between people and work .What I realised was that people become so unaware of the space around them due to seeing it everyday , that putting a change in the environment creates a shock and needs a different approach to getting around the space . I thought this was an interesting idea
Previous installations where I played with moving objects and re arranging them .The materials i have chosen to use are all found construction rubbish that i salvaged from the construction site skips . What interests me is the potential installations that can be made from building sites and how they are viewed when placed in the institute of the art school and how its viewed in the art world .
